General Liability

If you are a Tradie then “General Liability“, or “Public and Product Liability” as some call it, is a must-have insurance for your business.

General Liability covers you for money you become legally liable to pay for compensation due to personal injury or damage to property happening as a result of an occurrence in connection with your trade.

This insurance can cover both the compensation that you legally have to pay and also the lawyers bill for defending the claim, including the costs incurred in any investigations or negotiations.

The policy has a number different coverages but some key benefits are:

  • Cover for Contractors or Subcontractors
  • Defective workmanship for business involved in a trade occupation
  • Damage to property within the custody of the business, including employee property
  • Liability under the Forests and Rural Fires legislation
  • Damage to leased premises
  • Goods on Hook Cover

Contractors or Subcontractors

Every Tradie has to call on people they know in the industry to help them out with bigger jobs.

Our policy will cover any “Labour-only” contractors or “sub-contractors” employed by you, and we treat them as “Your Employees”, provided that any of your contractors or sub-contractors are carrying out work for Your Business (i.e. in the same Trade as you), and such contractors or sub-contractors are not otherwise insured with their own or other people’s policies.

Defective Workmanship

You policy has a major benefit of coverage called “Defective Workmanship”.

Every Tradie can have a bad day once in a while and this part of the policy provides up to $50,000 indemnity for damage to somebody else’s property after you have worked on in it, provided the property is not owned, hired, leased or rented by you.

Indemnity is for the cost to rectify your work.
